Kelsey Snyder
Born and raised in south Alabama to a lineage of artists, I resisted the natural calling to be one myself for years. I veered off the path my heart was telling me to take and ventured down the television and film industry path for awhile in New York City. Studying Film and TV at Auburn University, this seemed like the instinctive next step in my career. But it wasn’t. So I went back to school for floral design in Los Angeles, California and went down the path of the floral industry for awhile. But this still wasn’t sticking. Having learned graphic design from my professional graphic designer mother and countless mentors along the way, I ventured down that path next and this felt closer to what my heart was telling me to do. It wasn’t until I had a child of my own that I knew I had been resisting the calling all these years. Seeing myself through my son’s eyes changed all of that though and I decided to finally take myself seriously as a fine artist in 2020. Nature has constantly been the base of inspiration for me. Growing up barefoot in the woods or on the beach, I have always been submerged in the aw and beauty that nature provides. This translates into all of my art regardless of the medium I choose to use. These paths and life’s turns, however, are not lost on me. I pull from life’s experiences as the narrative for my art, relating it back to not only my life’s journey but yours as well if I can. Our lives are all interconnected with each other and with nature and I hope my art is able to tell that story.
