This series of works is an exploration of the human connection with the sublime or spiritual. The term shorthand in this body of work refers to the use of symbols or abbreviated words to convey a message. Approaching the divine can be an intimate and personal experience, one that can at times seem to only be understood between the person and that higher entity. For the artist, the painting practice is the connecting of divinity and humanity through emotion and unconscious thought, rather than written or spoken language.
