Containment & Boundlessness
Featuring Giannina Dwin and Nina Surel
September 1 – November 19, 2023

The work of both artists intertwines by their interest in the passage of time, women’s bodies, bodily experiences, nature, vessels and seeds as metaphors.  They have collaborated, participated in multiple groups shows together, and now they’ve come to Arts Warehouse as a two artist exhibition.  Giannina and Nina are associated with The Collective62 in Miami, an all-women artist’s run space in Liberty City founded by Nina Surel. Containment and Boundlessness includes collaborative works in mixed media, as well as ceramic pieces by both artists.

Nina Surel is an Argentinian-born, Miami-based multidisciplinary artist whose work investigates the relationship between earthly matter and the human body. She’s inspired by rites of passage, themes related to fertility, and her practice incorporates techniques such as video, photography, painting, sculpture, performance, and installation. Surel’s belief in the power of community and collaboration motivated her to found Collective 62, the first feminine art complex collective in Miami fully equipped with studios and exhibition space. She studied Fashion Design at the University of Buenos Aires as well as Stage and Costume Design at the Arts Institute of Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. Her work is part of private collections across the globe and has been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and institutions in the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
