Join us for an amazing new Abstract Painting Workshop in the spirit of Joan Mitchell and the Abstract Expressionism movement. In this full day workshop, we will create a piece of non-representational art, using spontaneous brushstrokes and bold use of color, line and form. Using mixed mediums and different tools, we will combine acrylic paint, gels and mediums with chalk, soft pastels, graphite and more.
Abstract Expressionism is an American art movement that emerged in the 1940s and 1950s. You may recognize paintings in this category which are often characterised by gestural brushstrokes or mark-making, the impression of spontaneity, large fields of color, and action.
With a short lesson on color theory, blending, and Abstract Expressionism, students will leave the workshop with their creations to add to their future art projects or to hang as a unique fine art work!
This is a workshop for every level of artist from beginner to experienced painter.
