Learn simple techniques using Sumi Ink and natural papers to create your own botanical paintings inspired by nature’s silhouettes, bringing focus to the interplay of light and dark.
From studying plant silhouettes to guided brushstroke techniques, discover the magic of fluid ink.
In this class you will:
-learn how to work with Sumi ink
-playfully explore the interesting characteristics of botanical silhouettes
-final execution of one designed botanical in ink on natural color artist paper
In person, one on one instruction in a group setting.
This class is designed to provide instruction while encouraging your own personal style to come through.
Already taken Sumi Ink? Take it again! Students are encouraged to try the materials again and get more practice in during the workshop sessions.
About the Instructor:
Majoring in Illustration at Savannah College of Art & Design, I started my journey working as a textile designer for six years in Atlanta, GA. After lots of soul searching I jumped into a career of painting in 2013. I have been doing so full time since selling fine art, prints, and licensing my work.
The natural world is so beautiful and I hope my art is a reflection of that sentiment.
