Students will learn techniques for creating mixed media collages with fabric on paper. This is an opportunity to dive into gorgeous textiles and notions, to explore and create something fabulous. Participants will have access to a large selection of beautiful cotton, silk and synthetic prints and solid colors, as well as a variety of sequins and other trim. Students are encouraged to bring additional materials, including found objects, if they wish. The process of making a fabric collage involves openness and improvisation, and the approach is “Yes, and!”
Reference material will be provided. If preferred, students may provide their own, or work solely from the imagination. This workshop for adults will include drawing, tracing, pinning, cutting and glueing with acrylic medium. (No sewing) It is for beginners as well as experienced artists.
The instructor will provide a slideshow of fabric collage and related images from art history as well as contemporary artists for inspiration.
