Ecosystem is an exhibition featuring the work of Andy Krebs.
Ecosystem addresses the interactions between humans and various natural environments as well as the relationship between humans and our most intimate ecosystems – our own bodies. It examines both the feelings of tension and belonging that accompany experiences in the natural world. Many works in the show depict several versions of the same human figure. These figures explore what it means to be alone in a natural setting and the potential such situations offer for the flow of exploratory, dreamlike, and uninhibited thought.
At a time when concept often outweighs technique and technology outcompetes biology, Ecosystem attempts to claim that art in today’s world can be both technical and conceptual. It celebrates the resurgence of figurative art in a modern context. It also encourages us to remember our roots as biological organisms, as animals, and to respect the ways in which human bodies and minds are parts of the natural world.
