Opening Reception December 7th 6 – 9pm

Statement | My current studio practice and conceptual themes are based on the process of experimenting with everyday observations and circumstances. Through conducting research with things that I discover and find compelling or out of place, whether it be for their visual or ethereal qualities, I am able to expand my visual dialogue. Some of my more interesting findings include things like viscosity studies, the electrical workings of the brain, my daughter’s saliva clinging to her fingers, theoretical images of how the universe is organized, cross sections of internal combustion engines, and wet or matted stuffed animals. These objects don’t immediately seem connected but the more I study my attachment to these things, the more I see how and why I find them relevant.

Bio | Russell Bellamy grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. He studied art at Georgetown College and received his MFA from the University of Cincinnati. He has exhibited his work throughout the United States as well as presenting in both France and New Zealand. Russell is currently an Associate Professor of Art and Department Chair at Beacon College, the first accredited four year college in the country exclusively for students with learning disabilities, ADHD and gifted LD, in Leesburg Florida. His work is part of personal, corporate and government collections throughout the United States and Europe. Some highlights include CSX, the City of Orlando, the La Maison du Chevalier Gallery and the Donald L and Dorothy Jacob’s Collection.
