Coming Home
Solo Exhibition by Dominique Denis
East Gallery at Arts Warehouse
August 2 – October 19, 2024
This is the first solo exhibition at Arts Warehouse by AW Resident Artist, Dominique Denis. Her new exhibition, Coming Home, is inspired by vivid memories from her childhood in Haiti and her lived experiences as a designer and artist. The exhibition explores the colors, textures, and forms that inform her creative practice, weaving a rich tapestry of shared and individual perspectives.
Coming Home also initiates an intimate dialogue between Denis’ work and the art of her young nieces and nephew—Camila, Celine, Victoria, and Maxim, aged four to nine. Their artistic contributions infuse the exhibition with layers of innocence and spontaneity.
Through design, experimentation, and storytelling, the exhibition captures the poetry and rhythm of Denis’ life across diverse latitudes. It reflects on the people, places, and spaces that have impacted the artist’s personal journey, inviting viewers to reflect on their own stories and the common threads that help foster a sense of belonging.
