Dwelling
October 5th – November 10th, 2018
In Dwelling, multimedia artist Luis Garcia Nerey constructs an environment that meditates on the connections and separations formed between home, community and development. The piece explores the narrative of cyclical patterns that recur through time and place while also questioning the biases created by the real and artificial borders that are inevitably present in everyday life.
Known for his interactive installations, Luis Garcia Nerey creates works that provoke participants to navigate physical spaces in search of meaning. His paintings, sculptures and installations are informed by Constructionism Theory and rely on the viewer’s interaction with the pieces to negotiate symbiotic relationships between the Self and the Other.
Garcia Nerey was born in Puerto Rico and lives and works in Miami, Florida.
