DANCERS DREAMERS POETS WARRIORS

Quimetta Perle

December 29th, 2021 – February 26th, 2022

Dancers Dreamers Poets Warriors” captures all facets of women, both realistic and figures of imagination. These selected pieces are from a body of work that spans a decade, with a few of them completed during the artist’s Residency Exchange at Arts Warehouse in December 2021. The women in this exhibition are depicted in all states of being – happy, sad, bold, sexy – and varying actions – poem tellers, musicians, creators, dreamers, and others. With her use of color, fabric, beads, and other media, Quimetta gives these women a space to exist, empowering them.

As this body of work has evolved, Quimetta has created more loosely with an expressive hand, moving away from the formal presentation. Though the hand of the artist is shifting, the motivation to represent her subjects stays the same.
