10:30am to 1:30pm – No makeup classes

Get ready to fall in love with the sky! In this immersive, two-day acrylic painting workshop, you’ll explore the magic of big, bold, beautiful clouds drifting across brilliant blue skies. From soft, wispy formations to towering, sunlit cumulus clouds, discover how to capture the atmosphere, movement, and breathtaking beauty of the ever-changing sky.

Working on an 18″ × 24″ canvas, you’ll learn how to blend colors, build luminous layers, create convincing cloud formations, and use light and shadow to give clouds remarkable depth and dimension. Explore the interplay of warm and cool tones, the softness of distant edges, and the dramatic highlights that make clouds appear to glow against a deep blue sky.

Whether you’re drawn to realistic skies or prefer a more expressive, painterly approach, you’ll develop techniques to bring your clouds to life and transform a simple sky into a captivating work of art.

Perfect for painters who love the drama, tranquility, and awe-inspiring beauty of a summer sky, this workshop invites you to experiment, build confidence, and discover the joy of painting clouds.

Instructor Information:

Renée Rey is a New York artist who has called Delray Beach, Florida home for the past four years. With more than 10 years of experience teaching art, she brings a broad range of experience—and a passion for experimentation—to the classroom.

Rey has taught classical, Impressionist, and abstract drawing; live figure drawing; portraiture; acrylic and oil painting; mixed media; and collage. Her approach combines strong foundational skills with experimentation, encouraging students to develop their own visual language while discovering new ways to see and make.

Her background is equally interdisciplinary. Rey studied Interior Architecture and Drawing & Painting at Parsons School of Design, and continued her studies in drawing, painting, and art history at SUNY Albany and Palm Beach State College. She holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MA in Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.

A practicing artist for more than 30 years, Rey brings the perspective of a working artist into every class. Her goal is simple: to give students the skills, confidence, and freedom to make their own work—and have a good time doing it.
