Workshop | Mixed Media & Street Art Techniques
June 18, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm
$120MIXED MEDIA & STREET ART 1 Day immersive WORKSHOP
Led by Janie Reisler
In this 1-Day WORKSHOP, the instructor will be teaching some of the trending techniques that POP ARTISTS used back in the 60’s to create a layered and dynamic mixed media piece with a “summer of love” inspired aesthetic. Attendees are invited to explore the following techniques by applying them to their own large scale work of art. Attendees will leave this workshop with a completed piece! This workshop is for all levels of experience. Best suited for ages 16+. This workshop will be held first Saturdays of the month, with a different theme each month. Students are welcome to attend each month as they may learn something new!
The techniques include:
- Proper collage technique
- Gold leaf application
- Photo transfers with gel medium
- Graffiti typography
The workshop theme for June is “Summer of Love” inspired by the pop artists of the sixties and the Age of Aquarius. Students will be creating a piece of work on board using all kinds of memorabilia the artist supplies and will include a discussion of the artists of the time. We will focus on Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenberg, Tom Wesselmann, Robert Rauschenberg and many more as well as the musicians that made this era so unique. It was a time of collage, poster art, op art, billboard art and so many iconic sayings, music, famous quotes and famous people. So let’s ‘HAVE A NICE DAY ’ and spread some peace and love.
Envision YOUR PROJECT as a JOURNEY. Start thinking about a main theme or event you’d like to build upon. Varnish will be done at home, yet proper technique will be demonstrated in the session. You’re encouraged to register early, as the instructor will be sending out some notes to prepare you for this hands-on workshop. This WORKSHOP is an EXPERIENCE that you will surely grow creatively from and move on into a NEW DIRECTION in your future projects.
