Surreal Playground | Collage Workshop

This workshop will provide a space to play, exercise, and execute different forms of collage.
Students will go through some Surrealist techniques and games to provide inspiration, making a creative space free of conscious control.
Invented and practiced by such artists as André Breton, Rene Magritte, and Max Ernst, these games still produce results ranging from the hilarious to the mysterious and profound
Instructed by visiting artist Jessie Laura – mixed media artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Laura creates original analog collages. Within the past year, Laura has claimed recognition in bicoastal group exhibitions in New York City, NY and Los Angeles, CA. Laura graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.
Jessie is at Arts Warehouse for the Residency Exchange, a temporary 2-week studio residency from June 12th – June 26th. Her work is also featured in the Collage Exhibition in the Front Gallery at Arts Warehouse June 7th – July 13th, 2019.

All Materials are provided, but students must bring their own Xacto knife
