SUMMARY:SEA & SKY: Abstracting the Coastline in Paint
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\n*Please don’t wait to register! Workshops that do not meet the minimum number of students 3 days prior to the session date will be canceled or rescheduled. Signing up early helps us ensure that the workshop can take place. Thank you! \nSEA & SKY: Abstracting the Coastline \nLoosen up and let the ocean take over! In this expressive 5-hour acrylic workshop\, we’ll dive into the beauty of clouds and sea—not as perfect replicas\, but as emotional\, abstracted impressions of a clear\, sunlit day by the water. \nGuided by the shapes\, colors\, and rhythms of coastal skies and ocean waves\, you’ll explore how to simplify forms\, push color\, and use bold brushwork to capture the feeling of the shoreline. Think soft clouds as swirls of white and blush across ultramarine skies\, or shimmering seas reduced to layered blues\, expressive strokes\, and reflective marks. \nWe’ll explore composition\, color harmony\, texture\, and layering—giving you the tools to interpret your own vision of sky and sea in a way that’s personal and powerful. \nPerfect for painters who want to break from realism and explore a freer\, more intuitive approach to seascape. \n🎨 Some painting experience recommended\n🖌️ All supplies included\n🧤 Bring a smock and gloves if desired \n🥪 Bring a lunch! SUMMARY:When only the void stood between us | Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:When only the void stood between us\nExhibition by Keren Kroul\nJuly 3 – August 22\, 2026\nBack Room Gallery\nOpening event during First Friday Art Walk\, July 3\, 6 – 9pm. Free admission.\nIn large-scale watercolor on paper paintings and installations\, Keren Kroul’s work unfolds in a landscape of memory where time and place collapse into magnificent terrains. Monumental in size while vulnerable in materiality\, the work is a physical representation of the overwhelming helplessness she feels when confronted by a personal and historical legacy of loss and longing\, and the ongoing violence in this country and the world. Inherited memories\, neural networks\, maps\, flora\, and architecture are distilled into units of line and shape. Fragmented and abstracted\, they are repeated\, accumulated\, and layered into dense and detailed passages\, expanding over multiple paper panels. The imagery floats and sinks\, pulsates forward and away\, hovering over empty space. Painted with tiny brushes\, the process is intentionally labored and prolonged\, embedding time into the work. Working on paper\, Kroul thinks of documenting\, bearing witness. The delicate nature of watercolor comes in and out of focus\, recreated as it is remembered. While some images are opaque\, reflecting their solid presence in the mind\, others are a watery wash\, the dissolving of concrete places\, lives\, and eventually\, memories. The beauty of this work rests precariously on the surface. Beneath lies a process of reclaiming\, taking up space\, generating a site not only for her story\, but for all of our stories\, an affirmation that each life is singular and of infinite value\, deserving of human dignity and empathy. \nKeren Kroul examines identity through time\, memory\, and place\, in large-scale watercolor paintings and installations. Born in Haifa\, Israel\, to an Argentinean father and Israeli mother\, Kroul grew up in Mexico City\, Mexico and San José\, Costa Rica. She lives in South Florida\, where she teaches studio art and art history in high school and college. Kroul exhibits nationally and has received support from private and state foundations. Recent awards include a 2023 McKnight Foundation Visual Artist Fellowship (Minneapolis\, MN)\, and a 2025 Artist Residency at the Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago\, IL). Kroul’s work has been featured on television in MN Original (TPT-Twin Cities PBS)\, and in print publications including Paint Lab\, Color Lab\, Tangled Art\, New American Paintings\, and The Southern Review. Kroul holds a BA in Fine Arts from Brandeis University (Waltham\, MA) and an MFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design (New York\, NY).

SUMMARY:Alcohol Ink Floral Designs on Black Cardstock
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\nAlcohol Ink Floral Designs on Black Cardstock\nCreate bold\, vibrant floral designs in this hands-on alcohol ink workshop focused on working on black cardstock. You’ll learn techniques to blend and control movement of the inks and mixatives to shape petals\, stems\, leaves\, add highlights and create depth. You’ll leave with finished artwork and new skills to continue exploring alcohol inks with confidence. \nThis class is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike\, and all materials are provided. \nWhat is Alcohol Ink? \nAlcohol ink is a fluid art. The inks are dye-based and extremely vibrant due to heavy pigmentation. The inks glide freely on non-porous surfaces and are easily manipulated with various techniques such as blowing\, stamping or brushing. Another unique quality of alcohol ink is that the dried ink can be “revived” when coming into contact with fresh ink or blending solution\, allowing for further process of the design. Alcohol ink is a fun and unique medium\, allowing for creative freedom. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the teaching artist: \nDebra L. Snyder\, Fine Artist/Potter/Instructor \nI began my formal art education at Parsons School of Art & Design in New York and years later studied acrylic and watercolor painting with renowned artists at the Woodstock School of Art. My favorite theme for landscapes and seascapes was inspired while living at the Jersey Shore\, the Catskill Mountains and the coastal areas of New England. My first encounter with alcohol ink occurred ten years ago while traveling in Arizona. I was immediately intrigued by this fluid art\, the brilliance of the pigment and its versatility. Unlike acrylic or watercolor painting\, alcohol ink allows for a freedom of expression which I find unique and challenging. I have been practicing as an alcohol ink artist since then and continue to discover new techniques and applications with this exciting medium. \nClay art has also been one of my passions and has kept me captivated for twenty years now. I am continually improving and exploring throwing techniques and I find the rewards of throwing clay immeasurable. \nwww.artpartyexpress.com for more information.

The main objective is to communicate feelings through colors and flowing lines that suggest the freedom of movement. Manning uses an array of techniques which range from Tapping and Meditation to art exercises in order to tune into her feelings. The techniques open up her creativity and prevents judgement towards her own creations. \nIn March of 2018\, Manning exhibited at the office of The Octopi Group in Delray Beach\, where 27 paintings in a collection where presented. She also has exhibited at Style de Vie and Cornell Museum in Delray Beach. \n\n\n
