SUMMARY:Sculpted Acrylic Painting 2-Day
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*Please don’t wait to register! Workshops that do not meet the minimum number of students 3 days prior to the session date will be canceled or rescheduled. Signing up early helps us ensure that the workshop can take place. Thank you! \nSculpted Acrylic Painting – A Two-Day Workshop \nMay 28th and 29th – 10:30am – 1:30pm (No makeup dates) \nEver wonder how to create paintings with real volume and texture? In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll shape and carve with molding paste and a palette knife directly on your canvas. Then the next day\, you’ll bring the surface to life with acrylic color\, allowing pigment to settle into the ridges and valleys to bring out depth and movement. Through guided demonstrations and individual instruction\, you’ll explore color mixing and the interplay of light across the raised and recessed areas. Both beginners and experienced painters\, welcome. \nSupply List*: \n• Canvas — minimum 16″ × 20″\, maximum 36″ × 36″ (pre-gesso preferred) \n• Acrylic paints — 4–5 colors plus black. Optional: fluorescent\, neon\, or metallic colors \n• Molding paste — 16 oz container \n• Palette paper for mixing paint \n• Palette knife and at least one kitchen utensil: fork\, potato masher\, grater\, etc \n• Brushes — preferably filberts \n*Students must provide their own materials \nArt websites: Jerrysartarama.com\, blick.com\, Utrecht.com\, amazon.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor Information: \nFran Mann Goodman \nI am an abstract expressionist painter and educator whose work explores movement\, texture\, and emotional expression through layered surfaces and vibrant color. My paintings have been exhibited in more than fifty gallery exhibitions and are held in private collections internationally\, including those of prominent Hollywood collectors. \nI received my formal training in fine art at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles\, where I developed a disciplined studio practice and a strong understanding of visual language. Years later\, after recovering from Lyme disease\, I returned fully to painting and continued my studies through master classes with renowned abstract expressionist Larry Poons at the Art Students League of New York. \nBefore returning to my studio practice\, I spent more than thirty years in the beauty industry\, teaching women to approach makeup as an expressive art form. Through workshops and self-development programs across the United States and Canada\, I explored identity and self-representation through the face. This work received national media attention\, including appearances on television talk shows and features in major women’s magazines and The New York Times. \nTeaching is central to my professional life. For more than twelve years I have taught a program I developed\, Not Your Ordinary Painting Class\, offered both online and in person. The program blends art history with techniques in abstract expressionism and is designed for both beginners and experienced painters\, encouraging freedom of expression through color\, texture\, and layered surfaces. In addition to my ongoing classes\, I lead hands-on painting workshops that explore a variety of experimental applications\, including sculpted painting surfaces\, acrylic skins\, and collage materials such as paper towels. I have also published articles on these techniques and have been featured in Delray Magazine and Boca Magazine.

SUMMARY:Drawing as Meditation
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\nDrawing as Meditation\nLed by Juan Sebastian Restrepo \n$25\nAll Materials Provided\nThis beginner-friendly workshop introduces drawing as a calming\, meditative practice — a way to slow down\, breathe\, and reconnect with the present moment through mark-making. Using simple materials like pencils\, charcoal\, and ink\, participants will explore repetitive\, intuitive drawing exercises designed to reduce stress and enhance focus. There’s no pressure to create a “finished” piece — the goal is to experience the act of drawing as mindfulness and self-care. \nThis session will introduce drawing as a meditative and grounding practice rather than a technical skill. Participants will be guided through slow\, intentional mark-making exercises designed to quiet the mind and encourage self-reflection. Emphasis is placed on process over product\, helping students reconnect with creativity in a gentle\, accessible way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor: \nJuan Sebastian Restrepo is a visual artist based in Florida. He received an MFA in Painting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a BFA in Painting from Pratt Institute. Working across drawing\, painting\, and video\, his practice explores perception\, memory\, attention\, and the emotional logic of everyday life\, often blending abstraction and figuration through playful\, diaristic imagery. Restrepo has presented solo exhibitions in Miami\, including projects at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood and [NAME] Publications\, and has participated in group exhibitions across the United States and internationally\, including in London. His work has been exhibited at venues such as the Coral Springs Museum of Art\, 1310 Gallery\, and Arts on Douglas\, and has been featured in publications including Cultured Magazine\, saw palm\, Stonecoast Review\, and Inlandia Journal. In addition to his studio practice\, Restrepo is an experienced educator who has taught studio art and art theory at Florida International University and Miami Dade College\, and regularly leads workshops\, artist talks\, and community-based art programs throughout South Florida\, including programs with Dale Zine\, The Things Lab\, and collaboARTive. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n** Please note\, Refunds will be processed only if requested 72+ hours prior to scheduled workshop date/time. SUMMARY:Alcohol Ink Florals on Black Cardstock
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\nAlcohol Ink Florals on Black Cardstock\nCreate bold\, vibrant floral designs in this hands-on alcohol ink workshop focused on working on black cardstock. You’ll learn techniques to blend and control movement of the inks and mixatives to shape petals\, stems\, leaves\, add highlights and create depth. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike\, and all materials are provided. You’ll leave with finished artwork and new skills to continue exploring alcohol inks with confidence. \nWhat is Alcohol Ink? \nAlcohol ink is a fluid art. The inks are dye-based and extremely vibrant due to heavy pigmentation. The inks glide freely on non-porous surfaces and are easily manipulated with various techniques such as blowing\, stamping or brushing. Another unique quality of alcohol ink is that the dried ink can be “revived” when coming into contact with fresh ink or blending solution\, allowing for further process of the design. Alcohol ink is a fun and unique medium\, allowing for creative freedom. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the teaching artist: \nDebra L. Snyder\, Fine Artist/Potter/Instructor \nI began my formal art education at Parsons School of Art & Design in New York and years later studied acrylic and watercolor painting with renowned artists at the Woodstock School of Art. My favorite theme for landscapes and seascapes was inspired while living at the Jersey Shore\, the Catskill Mountains and the coastal areas of New England. My first encounter with alcohol ink occurred ten years ago while traveling in Arizona. I was immediately intrigued by this fluid art\, the brilliance of the pigment and its versatility. Unlike acrylic or watercolor painting\, alcohol ink allows for a freedom of expression which I find unique and challenging. I have been practicing as an alcohol ink artist since then and continue to discover new techniques and applications with this exciting medium. \nClay art has also been one of my passions and has kept me captivated for twenty years now. I am continually improving and exploring throwing techniques and I find the rewards of throwing clay immeasurable. \nwww.artpartyexpress.com for more information.

For more information\, click here \nDiscover the enchantment of alcohol inks as we bring vibrant hydrangeas to life! In this creative workshop\, you’ll explore a variety of techniques to guide the inks into delicate petals\, graceful leaves and stems on a generous 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock. No prior experience is needed\, just bring your curiosity and willingness to play with these inks. By the end\, you’ll leave with a beautiful\, frame-worthy masterpiece that blooms with your own artistry. \nAll levels welcome and supplies provided. \nAbout the teaching artist: \nDebra L. SUMMARY:Drawing as Meditation
DESCRIPTION:This session has been cancelled.\n\n\nDrawing as Meditation\nLed by Juan Sebastian Restrepo \n$25\nAll Materials Provided\nThis beginner-friendly workshop introduces drawing as a calming\, meditative practice — a way to slow down\, breathe\, and reconnect with the present moment through mark-making. \n*This workshop has been relocated to the Creative Arts School in Old School Square. For directions\, click here \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Instructor: \nJuan Sebastian Restrepo is a visual artist based in Florida. Thank you! \nPortrait Drawing from Life 6-Week Workshop \n$360 – All Materials Provided. \nJoin Artist Michele Del Campo for an engaging 6-week portrait drawing workshop designed to enhance your skills and creativity when creating a portrait. Each session lasts 3 hours and is open to all skill levels\, encouraging individual expression alongside technical growth. \n· Tuesday\, May 12 – 10:30am to 1:30pm \n· Tuesday\, May 19 – 10:30am to 1:30pm \n· Tuesday\, May 26 – 10:30am to 1:30pm \n· Tuesday\, June 2 – 10:30am to 1:30pm \n· Tuesday\, June 9 – 10:30am to 1:30pm \n· Tuesday\, June 16 – 10:30am to 1:30pm \n(No makeup dates) \nWhat to Expect: \nDay 1 | Scaling a drawing: The Grid Method. How to use a grid to draw from a photographic reference at any size while maintaining the correct proportions. \nDay 2 | Free hand drawing\, basic structure and proportions of the head. A constructive method to find the placement of the elements of the face: breaking down the individual facial features\, eyes\, nose and mouth\, how to see and represent them and how to relate them to each other within the general structure of the face. \nDay 3 | Line and contour drawing. How to represent each element of the face at different angles and how they align within the face as a whole. Introduction to sculpting shadows. \nDay 4 | Shadow mapping method and tonal values for creating dimensionality. We encountered strangeness and difference at every turn\, but the sunlight\, sky\, and green nature of the subtropical culture always gave me warm inspiration. I have lived in South Florida for a decade now compressing and symbolizing this into color-rich cubes representing home\, the strangeness of being different from my native country\, and the process of adapting. Gradually\, I developed a series of portraits exploring the signifiers of human nature. Humanoid figures are portrayed as children’s dolls with exaggerated heads and smaller torsos and are centered and anchored as if trying to root themselves into the frame. They reflect child-like vulnerability where the feelings of dread\, loneliness\, and weakness to the familiar/unfamiliar world are present. Dimensional crystalline shapes simultaneously create and break the form; symbolizing complex units that both comprise and undermine identity. Color is bold and convincing\, resembling that of nationality\, yet it doesn’t reveal the true origin of the figure. In this process of seeing and feeling all my surrounding environments\, large puzzles are put together one by one\, and these experiences are fused and harmonized in one complete work. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n** Please note\, Refunds will be processed only if requested 72+ hours prior to scheduled workshop date/time. SUMMARY:Blooming Floral Bouquet with Alcohol Ink
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\nBlooming Floral Bouquet with Alcohol Ink\nThursday\, March 26\nImmerse yourself in the mesmerizing world of alcohol ink and learn techniques to manipulate and paint with this fluid medium. Following a practice piece\, students will create their one-of-a kind floral bouquet on an 8.5″ x 11″ cardstock. Demonstrations and individual attention will be provided by the artist to create a variety of flowers\, stems and leaves. All levels welcome and supplies provided. \nWhether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist\, this workshop welcomes all levels to explore the vibrant beauty of alcohol ink! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the teaching artist: \nDebra L. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n** Please note\, Refunds will be processed only if requested 72+ hours prior to scheduled workshop date/time.
