Biography

Mark E. Stein is an experienced trial and transactional attorney whose practice is devoted to Intellectual Property law. Mr. Stein is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Intellectual Property Law and is A/v rated by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating available. He is consistently recognized as one of the top Intellectual Property Attorneys in south Florida by The Best Lawyers in America, Florida Trend, Florida Legal Elite Guide and Florida Super Lawyer, where Mr. Stein has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Florida. Mr. Stein is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Mediator and a member of the International Trademark Association Panel of Trademark Mediators.

Mr. Stein dedicates his practice to trademark, copyright, computer and internet law. He assists clients with trademark and copyright acquisition and counseling, intellectual property litigation and transactions and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Stein has litigated, arbitrated and mediated cases in all areas of intellectual property law, including, trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, trademark counterfeiting, copyright infringement, patent infringement, unfair competition, federal trademark dilution, trade secrets violations, restrictive covenants, tortious interference, licensing and franchising, domain name disputes and a variety of intellectual property matters involving computers and the Internet. Mr. Stein has also counseled clients on trademark, copyright, trade secret and computer and Internet law issues and has provided guidance on documenting and protecting trade secrets, developing and protecting computer software and protecting trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual property assets. Mr. Stein has represented clients on numerous intellectual property matters ranging from assisting one of the founding members of the rock band FOGHAT in protecting the band name, to helping clients establish programs to protect and enforce their trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights. He regularly lectures on a variety of trademark, copyright, trade secret and Internet and computer law subjects.

Mr. Stein is an active member of the International Trademark Association and is a member of the Internet Committee and is the chair of the Social Media and Mobile Application Education subcommittee. Mr. Stein is a member of Executive Council of The Florida Bar’s Business Law Section. He is the Past Chair of the Section’s Pro Bono Committee and of the Section’s Intellectual Property Committee and was an inaugural member of the Florida Bar Intellectual Property Law Certification Committee. Mr. Stein is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Holland Law Center.

Mr. Stein graduated with high honors from Florida State University (B.A., Phi Beta Kappa) in 1985 and received his law degree from the University of Florida in 1989.
Following graduation, Mr. Stein went to work as a commercial litigator for Kozyak, Tropin, Throckmorton & Humphries and then for Mitrani, Rynor & Gallegos. In 1995, Mr. Stein joined Lott & Friedland, P.A. where he became a shareholder and practiced exclusively Intellectual Property law for fifteen years. He joined Higer
Lichter & Givner, LLP as a partner in 2010 and on January 1, 2015, he established Mark Stein Law.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Event Parking: Street parking along 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue is free. There are two public parking lots marked in yellow on the map below which are north of Arts Warehouse on 3rd Avenue. Arts Warehouse is a short walk from the main downtown areas and Pineapple Grove garages. PLEASE do not park in the dirt parking lot at the northwest corner of 3rd & 3rd (denoted with a red X on map below) as it is not a public parking lot.

The use of Uber, The Delray Downtowner, and carpooling is encouraged.
