If I want to have my work critiqued, what do I do?
A small fee of $5 is required to submit work to critique in which spots will be available through Eventbrite. After registration, participants will be required to email artswarehousedelry@gmail.com to give a short description of the work to allow staff to prepare space. Prior to critique, each participant will sign in and set up their work. Work will be critiqued in the order of the signin sheet.
How will the critique be run?
We meet for about two hours, in which the first five to ten artists registered will show and discuss their work with the group; sign up is on a first come first serve basis. The moderator will lead discussion and do their best to monitor time; nothing is guaranteed. We ask artists to come prepared with a springboard for discussion: like what they are looking to improve on, what the work is trying to convey, and what they believe to be successful or unsuccessful. Critiques are monitored Arts Warehouse staff or by guest monitors when needed. As a reminder, these meetings are meant to be deeply engaging and constructive as to help develop each artist in their careers. Please be considerate and professional in your discussion and be prepared to answer questions and engage in discussion.
What can I bring into the event?
If you are interested in having your work critiqued please bring 1 piece of work that is ready to hang or install. Artist are encouraged to bring sketchbooks to show the progression of their work and to take notes during the session. Easels, pedestals (12in X 12in) or a projector can be provided if indicated at time of registration. If you have video/new media work to be presented or that requires the projector, you will have to bring your own laptop. If other accommodations are needed and not listed above, feel free to email Arts Warehouse at least 72 hours prior to critique.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Event Parking: Street parking along 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue is free. There are two public parking lots marked in yellow on the map below which are north of Arts Warehouse on 3rd Avenue. Arts Warehouse is a short walk from the main downtown areas and Pineapple Grove garages. PLEASE do not park in the dirt parking lot at the northwest corner of 3rd & 3rd (denoted with a red X on map below) as it is not a public parking lot.
The use of Uber, The Delray Downtowner, and carpooling is encouraged.
